The Sweet: Blockbuster ( Rare Footage )
What a perfectly crafted song... combining 70's Glam, slammin' guitar riffs, soaring vocals, anthemic production, melodic hooks and atmospheric keyboards... this craftiness was the perfect transitional segue for alternative New Wave in the late 80's and early 80's (e.g. The Cars)!
I really loved Sweet, great music and image. I really loved Brian Connolly, what a handsome man he was.
At least the sound is good. Why is the video at 240?
I’ve never heard this song before… but WOWWWW. This shows how talented this band was, the different rhythms are crazy and the singing amazing 😍😍😍. Oh how I love The Sweet 🥰🥰🥰
Love it all
I'm 55 I always thought I was born 10 years too late I missed all the great cars and all the great songs but no no it's been a tough ride don't ever regret ❤🤟🤟💪💪💪
I’ll Never get used to the fact they both had mullets. Too weird!
Songs from my young teen years by sweet: Love is like oxygen Ballroom Blitz Fox on the run I wanna be committed Great times
Remember this one on top of the pops I raced out and bought the single the next day.
Looks like someone didn't like Steve who edited this video.
Here in 2024 to hear this again for the n+1th time. I love the Firebird at the end of the video. I had one just like it (without the tape heads) and some lowlife stole it from me 40 years ago. I still think about it occasionally.
❤❤❤love it ❤❤
Grest nice 70th.yes😂❤❤
That extended middle section has a bit of a Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells vibe.
I feel it 🎶🎵🎶🎵🤘🏻
This song is a masterpiece. Why they changed it by playing Fanfare For The Common Man in the middle, does not make any sense. Their instrumental is far better.
😂 12" long version 😂
Such a great band with many popular songs!! You don’t get too many great songs anymore
THE BEGINNING OF THE END. From there it only went downhill! Very sad .
Love the boys!!!
I was born in 1953. Lived through the British Rock Invasion, The Disco scene which was fun, the street racing scene in my Z/28’s including a 1968 Z/28 that I purchased in 1974 for $3,000 and so on. If I had a Time Machine I would go back cause today the music sucks and the world is all F Up with greedy manufacturers. My fav music is the 60’s and 70’s. In 1964-65 I didn’t have $5.00 to go see the Beatles at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, BUT in ‘73 I did go see Led Zeppelin at Maple Leaf Gardens. I still own my 1970 4 speed Z/28 that I bought from the original owner in 1981.
I love they have the Mullet hair cuts that were popular at that point in music history. thetime m
I have been in 80s bands metal Bands hard rock been playing 50 years and friends are always shocked when I say sweet is my favorite band the were ahead of everyone.
66 years old and only found out today that there was an extended version of one of my favorite sweet songs. Really! Amazing!
61 and me too!
65 and I have the greatest hits album. Never knew this existed. Best version.
The extended section in the middle has a Tubular Bells vibe about it. Or is it just me?

The first time i heard this number it hit me.
❤❤

Best thing they wrote, great track.
I've been a Sweet fan since 75 . I was 11 .
I remember seeing Blockbuster on TOTP as a 7 year old kid and loving it, I'm pretty sure it was No1, my parents bought the single I remember it having an orange centre lol .
One of the best Rock songs ever recorded. Sweet had a lot of great songs but this was the best.
Who is the guy playing keyboards in this video? I don't recognize him.....
This song and Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty define the summer of 1978.
such a crystal clear singing voice ….
My favourite band in the 70's, the long version the best song beneath ballroom blitz
I remember hearing them on my little radio in the 70s … I was a kiddo
SWEET Forever
The first band I remember listening to as a kid (Fox On The Run), loved them ever since. They should have been much bigger in the states.
fantastic song never gets old xxx
Great band with numerous great songs
I started listening to Sweet when I was 10 yo in 1975. Turned into a metalhead in 1980 but I keep coming back to them. I always got a kick out of hearing their tunes remade by Def Leppard, Black-N-Blue, Krokus, and Wayne’s World. These guys rock.
like Oxenschwanz
So Awesome ♥️♥️♥️
Such a underrated group, this song brings back so many memories of my youth. I’m just about to turn 58 . Thanks guys for helping me to hold onto them ❤
It'll burn you too
